Introducing Yelp!

Hi Rummagers! We'd like to introduce you to Yelp, an online urban city guide! Lani, who looks after Yelp in Brisbane, will be at our Rummage this Sunday August 5. So if you have any questions and want to learn more about how you can get involved, look for her and her big wheel of Yelp! Here is some information she's put together for you ...

Yelp is an online urban city guide (website and mobile app) that helps people find cool places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play, based on the informed opinions of a vibrant and active community of locals in the know. Yelp is the fun and easy way to find, review and talk about what's great — and not so great — in your world.

Yelp connects people to local businesses in many ways including:

Reviews
Start sharing your opinion about local places you love, hate, need so badly you dream of at night! It's great feedback for the businesses & for the community of users that use the site.

Yelp Mobile App
It's a free app & when you check in you access great deals & collect cool badges for being a regular of certain spots. You also can search places to explore in your local area whether you need a mechanic, a late night pharmacy or just need a great coffee!

The Weekly Yelp
It goes out every Wednesday and the theme varies but sums up great spots to discover in Brisbane. The best thing is it's made up from quotes from your reviews, fame awaits you!

The Events Section
You can post events here & check out what's going on around the city. The community of users also create their own events from book clubs to foodie clubs to DVD clubs and more in between!

Talk.
This is a place were you can post topic conversations and get to know the community more.

Events.
I throw free events once a month BUT you have to be active on the site to get an invite! You never know you may get an Elite badge from San Francisco too, don't know what I'm talking about?! Just click on this link http://www.yelp.com.au/e…

Business Owners.
You sign up via this link & get access to loads of free tools. https://biz.yelp.com.au/

Best of all you have a local community and marketing manager on the ground here in Brisbane. So if you want to reach out - whether you're a Yelper or Business Owner - feel free to drop me a line at brisbane@yelp.com
